RICA Practice Test 2026 – Complete Exam Preparation

Recording chapters on tape for prior listening is an effective strategy for assisting struggling readers because it provides them with access to the content in an auditory format, which can enhance comprehension and retention. This method allows students to hear the text read fluently, helping them to understand the structure, rhythm, and pronunciation of the language. For struggling readers, particularly those who may have difficulties with decoding text or have learning disabilities, listening to the material can reduce the cognitive load and make it easier for them to focus on understanding the overall meaning. Additionally, this approach can foster a love for reading, as students may find enjoyment in listening to stories and other texts. By enabling multiple modes of engagement with the text, such as auditory and visual, students can reinforce their learning and build confidence.

Other strategies in the options may not address the specific needs of struggling readers as effectively. For instance, PowerPoint presentations may help summarize content visually but do not directly address reading proficiency. Silent reading to the class does not engage those who struggle with reading in the same active way. Solely using written instructions may exclude those who benefit from more interactive or multimodal forms of learning.
